Can you believe it? Our 25th Season, our Silver Anniversary, is drawing to a close! What a major milestone! How fine that we have been able to celebrate together. Willy Sucre and his many talented friends have outdone themselves this season with four spectacular concerts; they will close our anniversary season with a final concert in May.
And to touch on some of the additional highlights, John Bullock, our composer in residence composed an overture for the occasion -- “Silver Anniversary Overture or Pomp and Circumstances Beyond My Control”, he calls it. We all thoroughly enjoyed hearing it in January. Mark Kaplan was back with another fantastic performance as the Kaplan and Weiss violin and piano duo. You recall he saved the day last season when Yakov Kasman was unable to be here due to a death in the family. Delightfully, Yakov will performing at our April concert, something we’re all looking forward to.
This 25th anniversary has brought another season of fantastic art exhibits drawn from a selection of painters, potters, photographers, fiber artists, pastel artists, mosaic and stained glass artists, jewelers, glass makers and more. And just completed in March was a second annual special exhibit of the photographic works of our beloved David Cramer.
Planning the celebration of the 25th Season of a community group such as ours, in our unique circumstances and setting, gave us pause to reflect on what that really means. For one thing, it means we are organized and devoted to our cause. It means you've supported and loved what we did. We want that to continue for many years, far into the future.
