Visual Arts Shows Application PROCESS for the upcoming Season

Purpose: To provide a professional venue to display the work of four visual artists each month from September to May.  All work is juried.   Placitas Artists Series believes in promoting local and  regional artistic talent in monthly exhibits concurrent with their musical concerts.

Eligibility: Open to artists and crafts persons 18 and older presenting their original work. First preference will be given to residents of Placitas and Southern Sandoval County and then to all other New Mexico residents.

Location: Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Paseo de San Antonio & State Road #165, Placitas, New Mexico.

Standards: All work must be: original and of professional quality and ready for display; completed within the last two years; and not previously exhibited with The Placitas Artists Series. Entries copied, mass produced, made from a kit or mold, or under the supervision of an instructor are ineligible. 

Selection Committee: The Selection Committee will review all applications. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any work found not suitable.  Decisions of the Selection Committee are final.   The Selection Committee consists of the following: Dianna Shomaker, Sally Curro, Bunny Bowen, Judith Roderick, and Elaine Slusher. 

Application for Review:  Artist wishing to be considered should submit the following:

1.  A completed entry form.

2.  Three 35mm slides or digital disk of the type of work to be shown, labeled with artist name and name of the work, medium and size. Digital files should be 72-100 DPI in Jpeg, 6.5” minimum.

3.  Statement of artistic technique, methods and description of work (paragraph), written in first person. Short resume (paragraph), written in third person. Statement and Resume are needed for the program and website.

4.  A self addressed stamped envelope for return of slides.

Calendar: Applications due by May 1^st. Notification will be by July 15^th. Opening reception held the day of the concert. Each exhibit is displayed for about one month.

Sales: The Placitas Artists Series collects a 20% commission from all sales. Sales tax is the responsibility of the artist.  

Liability: The artists must provide their own insurance. The Placitas Artists Series and Las Placitas Presbyterian Church assume no responsibility for loss or damage to work on display.
