A graduate of Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, Patricia
Forbes received additional art education in Europe. Forbes
studied Decorative Arts at the Smithsonian Institute in 1998 and she
continues to study with Nancy Reyner of Santa Fe, NM. In 2007
Albuquerque The Magazine selected Forbes as that year’s Best
Local Artist. She was a featured artist shown doing her work on
House and Garden TV’s (HGTV) “That’s Clever!” in 2006 and 2007.

"I am best known for my vibrant colors and
abstract shapes combined with reflective and textured elements. Many
pieces have the feel of waterscapes or quantum or celestial imaginings. I create a textured under-layer using acrylic materials, then paint that layer to produce a reflective quality. I then apply layers of paper images, shapes and more paint over this background to produce the finished visual result." |
