The New Mexico Watercolor Society, Alpine Artists Holiday in Ouray, CO; Durango Arts Center; National Small Print Show, Creede, CO; and Gateway National Juried Art Show, Farmington, NM, are a few of the exhibitions that she has been juried into. The artist has also participated in numerous group shows and exhibitions in both New Mexico and Colorado. She is currently preparing for an August 2008 show in the San Juan College Gallery. Janet’s various experiences as an artist includes being selected to be an Artist-in-Residence at the Aspen Guard Station, Mancos, CO; exhibitor at the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair in Albuquerque, NM; exhibitor at the GO! Downtown Albuquerque Art Festival: exhibitor at the Main Avenue Arts Festival, Durango, CO; and a commission to create four 3’x8’ paintings for San Juan College. Janet has been very involved since 2004 with the organization and promotion of an annual three-studio tour/art sale each November. Her work is in private collections as well as the San Juan Medical Foundation, City of Farmington, and San Juan College collections. She currently works in her painting/printmaking home studio that she designed. This provides an inspired and creative space for making art. Continuous experimentation has led to her developing a unique means of expression. Vibrant color and stylized shapes are common elements in her work.

"When I begin a new work I cut paper, squirt out fresh paint, shuffle through photos, listen to music and let words float through my mind. I allow random associations to present themselves, staying alert to the spark that suggests a direction to explore. I am inspired by color and the experimental process itself. Vibrant colors and stylized shapes capture my imagination.

My current work has grown to include not only paint or ink on paper, but also on plexiglass or canvas. I use brushes, brayers, stencils and a printing press to find interesting possibilities for my art. Unconventional techniques challenge me with new ways of seeing. Continuous experimentation has led to my developing a unique means of expression and keeps the work fresh. Paintings, like “greeting cards”, are a connection between myself and others. Being engaged with other people and the world is part of my faith walk and painting is a part of my life that allows me to do that. My work is available for viewing at my home studio by appointment. I welcome visitors and always enjoy sharing about the creative process."
