Senior Citizen Tickets
Thanks to a generous grant from Sandoval County, PAS offers free concert tickets each season to senior citizens. These tickets are made available to the Senior/Community Center program managers in Placitas, Bernalillo, and Peña Blanca where they are distributed to program participants.
School Outreach Program
For twenty two years the (PAS) School Outreach Program provided the students of Southern Sandoval County, a wide variety of performances, including music, theatre and dance. PAS offers programming to all schools in the Bernalillo Public School District, Jemez Public Schools, and Zia Pueblo Schools. Peanut Butter and Jelly Therapeutic Preschool in Bernalillo is also included.
This outreach program expands children’s awareness of our unique New Mexican culture. The relationship with the schools begins with the PAS Outreach Coordinator contacting school administrators, sharing information about available programs, notifying them that the performance costs are shared between PAS and the schools, and inviting their schools to participate. Schools can choose any program they desire. In the 2009-2010 school year, five programs were performed: Opera Unlimited at Roosevelt Elementary School; Akeem Ayanniyi and Agalu at Cochiti Elementary School; Baila! Baila! at San Felipe Head Start; Friends of Puppet and Object Theatre at Peanut Butter and Jelly Therapeutic Pre-School and Jemez Pueblo Day School.
All performances focus on the interaction between the artists and the students. Many schools have said that they could not afford such high quality programming were it not for the help in program coordination and cost sharing provided by PAS.
